The 63rd edition of The Link Hong Kong Open will take place at Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling from Thursday (Nov 21) to Sunday (Nov 24), featuring a lineup of worldwide golf stars.
As part of The International Series for the second year, the tournament -- with prize money of US$2 million -- is one of the ten elevated events on the Asian Tour calendar that provide a pathway to the LIV Golf League.
This year’s lineup includes defending champion Ben Cambell from New Zealand, 2014 US Open winner Martin Kaymer, 2015 Hong Kong Open winner Justin Rose, and 2018 US Masters winner Patrick Reed, who is making his fifth appearance at the event.
The Hong Kong Open also gives the public an early chance to catch up with some players in next year’s National games, including leading Chinese stars Liu Yanwei, Chen Guxin, Zhang Xinjun and Ye Wocheng.
In celebration of the Hong Kong Golf Club’s 135th anniversary, rising stars including PGA Tour stars Tom Kim from South Korea along with local talents Taichi Kho and Terrence Ng, as well as local professionals such as Jason Hak and Leon D’Souza, and amateur golfers Jeffrey Shen, Isaac Lee, Alexander Yang, and Timothy Chan will be joining the event.
In addition, the tournament is marking its first inclusion of a golfer with disability by inviting the 25-year-old world champion, Kipp Popert from England.
George Kwok Lung Hongchoy, Link Group CEO, stated that the tournament provides Link with the opportunity to promote golf in the city on a larger scale and encourage citizens to engage with the sport.
Admission to the opening rounds on November 21 and 22 will be free.
Similar to previous years, tickets for the last two days, November 23 and 24, are priced at HK$200 per day or HK$300 for a weekend pass.
