Three cops draw pistols when arresting five in Lai Chi Kok

Three cops were seen pulling out their pistols when police intercepted a suspicious vehicle in Lai Chi Kok on Saturday afternoon and arrested five men.

Police said they received a report around 3.34 pm about a suspicious vehicle with a fake license plate spotted on Yen Chow Street in Sham Shui Po.

Officers from West Kowloon emergency unit were then dispatched, and they intercepted a private car on Cheung Lai Street near Cheung Yee Street in Cheung Sha Wan. Officers attempted to break the car windows with their batons and drew their pistols.

According to footage circulated online, two of the suspects were subdued and laid on the ground with the other three on their knees.

A witness surnamed Wan said he saw a number of officers surrounding the private car at the time and they kept yelling at the five aboard to get out of the vehicle. Three of the cops even drew their pistols and pointed them at the car, according to Wan.

One of the suspects attempted to escape but was swiftly subdued by a strong officer, he added.

He continued that the other suspects didn’t resist and the tense encounter, instead of scaring pedestrians away, attracted crowds to approach and see what was happening.

The case was listed as a suspicious vehicle found and possession of offensive weapons.
