The MTR Corporation announced Friday afternoon that the train services between Mong Kok East Station and Tai Wai Station were temporarily suspended due to “a person on the track” at Kowloon Tong Station.
At 12.08 pm today, the rail giant announced that East Rail Line services were disrupted after a person entered onto the tracks.
The firefighters and paramedics arrived on scene after being alerted.
It is suspected that a man in his 50s fell from the platform near where the third car of the train would stop at Kowloon Tong station.
He was later found and rescued from underneath a train by the rescue workers.
His face was covered in blood, and he was rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Trains from Admiralty and Mong Kok East operated at 8-minute intervals, while trains from Tai Wai to Lo Wu and Tai Wai to Lok Ma Chau operated at 10-minute and 30-minute intervals, respectively.
Trains from Mong Kok East to Tai Wai were halted entirely due to the incident.
Free shuttle bus services had been arranged for the passengers, the MTR added. Passengers were also urged to consider taking other transport.
The service gradually resumed about an hour later.
