The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has held a job fair in Kowloon Tong today, providing 4,700 vacancies for youngsters who want to join leading companies.
The “Good Job Fair and Slash Expo” gathered headhunters from 55 enterprises and over 100 slashers to showcase their services.
These enterprises, such as hotel giants Hyatt Regency and Crowne Plaza, along with Mitsubishi Electric, the Star Ferry Company and Asia Airfreight Terminal, are open to recruit new bloods and some provided interviews on site.
Over 90 percent of these jobs are capable of associate holders or below, while the majority of these positions provide a monthly salary of HK$13,000 to HK$15,000, and over 40 percent of them provide an hourly wage of over HK$60.
While those 100 slashers, are from fields covering photography, design, visual arts, experiential learning and language, along with free workshops about tea art, ink wash painting and postcard design.
Wong, a DSE graduate who was interviewing for the position of restaurant assistant in Shshiro, said that its relatively high wage has attracted him.
“It offers a salary that is quite much for a secondary school graduate like me,” he said.
According to the company’s description, their shop assistants can enjoy a monthly and hourly wage of HK$17,000 and HK$80 respectively.
There are also some featured job vacancies, such as hotel intern manager, engineer of a property management company that offers up to HK$30,000 monthly.
An online job seeking platform, also organised by HKFYG, will be available from Monday (July 3) to late September for teenagers to seek jobs.
