Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said on Tuesday that the investigation into Cathay Pacific’s alleged breach of isolation rules and the probe of party-going officials’ alleged misconduct would not fly under the radar.
The Hong Kong leader said investigation of Cathay Pacific crews’ alleged breach of isolation rules is underway.
She said the airline’s use of cargo-only flights to carry their aircrew back to Hong Kong to avoid hotel quarantine has been going on for over a year, adding that the SAR government will have to review relevant documents to see if such arrangements may have breached the city’s Covid rules.
As for the probe into a Covid-19-hit birthday party attended by 15 government officials, Lam told reporters that the investigation is still ongoing.
She stressed that the investigations - whether with Cathay Pacific or the government officials - will not be left unsettled.
“The public needs to know the truth. I also have to be fair to the corporation [Cathay Pacific] and my colleagues, letting the people know what has actually happened,” said Lam.
