In the 2022 HKDSE, the school-based assessment of ten subjects will be canceled and four subjects will be streamlined, the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority announced today.
The authority said the move is in view of the extended class suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which aims to free up learning time and reduce those assessment tasks which require face-to-face contact.
This one-off arrangement is only applicable to current Secondary 5 students, the authority added.
Subjects that will have their school-based assessment canceled include Liberal Studies, Chinese Literature, Literature in English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science (Combined/Integrated Science), Technology and Living, Information and Communication Technology, and Health Management and Social Care.
While the four subjects including Chinese Language, English Language, Design and Applied Technology, and Visual Arts will have their school-based assessment streamlined, having the weighting on the assessments or number of artwork required reduced.
