Covid death toll rises to 167 as HK expects over 70 new infections

An elderly woman has died from the coronavirus infection today, bringing the city's death toll to 167, the Caritas Medical Centre announced.

The 74-year-old patient, who had chronic diseases, was admitted to the hospital due to fever and hypoglycemia - also known as low blood sugar - on January 10, she was tested positive for the coronavirus the next day. 

Her condition continued to deteriorate and eventually died around 1.30am this morning.

Health officials are also set to confirm over 70 Covid patients today.
