Commuters can pay their fares by scanning the transit QR code in their mobile payment tool with the new e-payment system on buses, and the system will display “Approved” on the screen with a voice message when the transaction is complete. The companies said the service will be extended to all routes in future upon approval.
The new e-payment system is preset with adult fares, with a fare concession button for children and the elderly and passengers can still enjoy the Bus-bus Interchange Fare Concession, two-way section fares and Citybus Cityflyer Same Day Return Fare Discount currently applied to Citybus Route A29/A29P.
However, $2 fare concession scheme for elderly, and Eligible Persons with Disabilities and Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme, are not applicable to e-payments other than Octopus.
Citybus and First bus said the new electronic payment will later include contactless credit cards and mobile payment.
