Two arrested for inciting illegal gathering

Two men, aged 20 and 30 years respectively, were arrested today for posting information online, inciting others to cause harm, and take part in illegal assembly on October 1.

The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau Chief Inspector Fan Chun-yip said following their arrest of three men yesterday for incitement to take part in illegal assembly, they have arrested two more men today.

The two were accused of inciting people online to use lethal ways to harm police officers, along with doxxing police officers.

“The two suspects posted information online through online forums, Telegram and Facebook. They also know the assembly they are calling for participants to join is illegal,”Fan added.

Police said the likelihood of further arrests is not excluded, reminding citizens not to participate in illegal public events.
