Parknshop says it plans to return half of the wage subsidy it received from the government, through a HK$32 million lucky draw.
“Ctizens simply need to register online, and will have a chance of winning coupons of ParknShop,” said Malina Ngai Man-lin, AS Watson, chief executive.
“We previously wanted to offer 20 percent off on consumer goods, or give away cash coupons for shoppers who spend at our stores, but this was not adopted by the government. So we came up with the lucky draw.”
ParknShop yesterday announced HK$40 million worth of food coupons to about 200,000 people, including needy families, the elderly and the less-abled, and HK$200 vouchers to be distributed per person next month by 20 non-governmental organizations.
The government had imposed the condition of offering no less than half of the subsidies from the second tranche of wage relief, to the needy.
According to a government spokesman, ParknShop has received HK$161.96 million in the second tranche for 8,215 staff.
