Hong Kong confirms 27 new cases today

Hong Kong confirmed 27 new Covid-19 cases today, marking a slight rebounding from yesterday. 

Among them, 18 cases were domestic infections, including a clinic medicine dispenser and two elderly home residents have tested positive with the virus. 

Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre of Health Protection said one of the elderly home residents lives in Fung Shing Care Home in Kwai Chung, and its source of infections was unknown. 

It was one of the seven infections reported today with an unidentified source. 

She added since the patient can move around in the care home, around 80 other residents and staff have to undergo a virus test. 

Another eldelry home patient with chronic illness lives at Hei Yuet Home for Aged Limited in Tai Kok Tsui. He developed a fever yesterday.

Some 50 staff and residents of the eldelry home have to be isolated. 

The medicine dispenser works at a clinic in To Kwa Wan, she developed a fever on August 15.

A doctor, five nurses, another dispenser and a janitor are listed as close contacts and will be sent to quarantine centers. 

Chuang said the doctor has tested preliminiarily positive, pending confirmation. 

The rest of today's cases were nine imported infections, including returnees from the United States, Canada and India, and three cabin crew members who had been to Russia. 

Meanwhile, the CHP has distributed 7,600 specimen bottles to people linked to the Kwai Tsing container port cluster, among which 5,000 samples have been tested.
