American lingerie brand, Victoria's Secret, owned by New York-listed L brands, and reputed in fashion capitals for its decked up “angels'' who parade its wares, has shuttered its Causeway Bay store amid massive financial losses in the New York-listed parent company.
The Causeway Bay store stocked an assortment of Victoria’s Secret’s lingerie collections, including Body by Victoria, Very Sexy, Dream Angels, Bombshell, Cotton lingerie as well as Victoria Sport. Alongside the brand’s best-selling lingerie were Victoria’s Secret signature scents, body care collections and Victoria’s Secret PINK, a collection of bras, panties, and loungewear.
On May 20, L Brands, reported a quarterly loss of US$296.9 million compared to a net income of US$40.3 million, the year before. Earlier that month, L Brands ended an agreement with private equity firm Sycamore Partners, signed in February for a 55 percent stake in Victoria’s Secret. Sycamore had sued L Brands in April seeking to cancel the deal. L Brands said later it would make Victoria’s Secret and its Pink business a standalone company.
The final notice of the Causeway Bay store was posted yesterday, saying the Victoria’s Secret Flagship Store is closing and that customers will be available to shop online at www.victoriassecret.com.
The brand opened the store in July 2018, after setting foot in Hong ong at the ifc mall. Later, it opened outlets in Tsim Sha Tsui and Times Square.
The 50,000 square foot Causeway Bay flagship was previously occupied by US fashion retailer Forever 21.
