The High Court has today rejected a judicial review filed by League of Social Democrats chairman, Raphael Wong Ho-ming, challenging a five-year ban on running for public office for those sentenced to three months of imprisonment or more.

Wong wanted the court to rule that those provisions in the Legislative Council Ordinance, District Councils Ordinance and Rural Representative Election Ordinance are inconsistent with the Basic Law and the Hong Kong Bill of Rights, and unconstitutional.
Judge Anderson Chow Ka-ming said in the judgment that the case has no reasonable chance of success and rejected the judicial review.
