Hong Kong’s advancements in information and communications technology have made it a major global communications hub over the years. The HKICEC was established with the aim of uniting the global communications and electronic industry, promoting innovation, sustainable development and international cooperation, and consolidating Hong Kong’s leading position in the global communications and electronic industry.
As a key business organization in the communications and electronics sector, HKICEC is committed to “Gathering wisdom and strength, Connecting the world, Empowering the industry and Contributing to society”. It strives to facilitate the rapid circulation and rational allocation of communications devices around the world, promote the standardization and recognition of the industry, and solidify Hong Kong’s position as an international communications and electronics trade hub.
“HKICEC’s founding members have been rooted in Hong Kong for over 30 years. Given the limited strength of individual companies, HKICEC hopes to unite the industry, promote exchange among industry players, build an international cooperation platform, drive industry development, and bring benefits to related businesses and users in Hong Kong and abroad,” said Jacky Tse, Chairman of HKICEC.

Five key areas to boost industry competitiveness
Founded by leading companies in the communications and electronic equipment industry listed on mainland China, Hong Kong and abroad, HKICEC has a broad member base covering over 200 companies from the electronics and communications sector, including product development, logistics and finance.
According to Tse, HKICEC is dedicated to five key areas: First, promoting industry exchange, strengthening industry connections, coordination and development. Second, establishing industry standards and building connections with the government, regulatory bodies, legal, accounting and banking. Third, building a value-added platform to provide members with industry information and seminars, enhancing their professional skills and aligning them with international standards. Fourth, providing professional support to safeguard members’ rights and interests and ensure their due protection. Fifth, encouraging members to actively participate in charitable events and give back to society. After the pandemic and Tai Po Fire, HKICEC quickly mobilised members support and donations, reflecting the commitment to social responsibility.
Leading its member towards global expansion with ESG
As the global digital economy develops by leaps and bounds, communication and electronic devices have become the crucial “core engine” that are facing complex international standards and challenges.
“With increasing emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) around the world, HKICEC advocates for recycling and ESG practices, driving the industry towards high-quality, sustainable and digital development,” noted Tse.
To this end, the HKICEC has held numerous seminars. On November 13, 2025, HKICEC held the “Hong Kong ICE Forum” drawing more than 450 members and guests alongside leading global business figures. Among them are sharing sessions by industry experts on R2 (Responsible Recycling) and data erasure software to equip members with professional knowledge and the latest trends.
Tse added that more activities on different topics are in the pipeline to meet the needs of its members. HKICEC is contacting government departments, legal and financial institutions as well as industry leaders from mainland China and overseas to provide value-added services for its members, connecting them to the world and helping them go international.
At the “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” event organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Tse represented the HKICEC to join over 90 government and business leaders on a trip to Milan, Italy. During the trip, he introduced the HKICEC to attendees and local businesses, promoted exchange and cooperation between the electronics and communication equipment industries of Hong Kong and Italy, and paved the way for the industry to expand into international markets.

Meanwhile, HKICEC is supporting members to expand into the South American and African markets to meet the growing demand for electronic communication devices in developing countries.
Tse hoped that HKICEC, leveraging Hong Kong’s advantages as a free port and the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, can fully utilize its position as a “super-connector” to build a comprehensive empowering platform based in Hong Kong that attracts global industries in R&D, manufacturing, operations and logistics.
“Driven by the growing demand for electronic communication applications, HKICEC will actively cooperate with national policies and the policy directions of the HKSAR Government to seize the development opportunities of the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative and the Greater Bay Area, and leverage its duel role in ‘bringing in’ and ‘going out’ to promote the industry’s internationalization,” Tse pointed out.

As HKICEC remains committed to its mission, it is set to embark on a new chapter for Hong Kong’s telecommunications and electronics sector.
