In this year's Primary One Central Allocation, 92.2 percent of pupils were allocated one of their top three school choices - a one percentage point increase from 2023 and the highest satisfaction rate in 16 years.
"A total of 19,204 children participated, with 16,083 [83.7 percent] being allocated to a school among their top three choices. The number of students applying saw a 5 percent decrease, while the overall satisfaction rate increased by 1 percentage point to 91.2 percent," an Education Bureau spokesman said.
The allocation process consisted of two parts:
? Part A: 10 percent of places were not restricted by school nets, allowing parents to choose up to three schools in any net; and
? Part B: 90 percent of places required parents to select schools within their designated school net or choice of schools list.
The allocation results will be announced on Wednesday and Thursday.
Parents who submitted school choices by January 28 will receive the primary one registration form by courier. If the delivery is unsuccessful, a collection notification card will be left for them to pick it up from the post office.
They can also access the results through SMS or by logging into their "iAM Smart" or "iAM Smart+" account from Wednesday. They must then register their children with the allocated school from June 11-13 during school hours.
If they are unable to complete the admission process in that period, they should contact the school.
Parents with special circumstances, such as moving to a new district, can make arrangements for a transfer by visiting the EDB's School Places Allocation Section.
Parents who wish to transfer their child to another school after registration are advised to first obtain acceptance from the new school before retrieving the form from the original school.
