Liu Hui-yin had earlier pleaded guilty to loitering causing concern and appeared before Magistrate Jason Wan Siu-ming in West Kowloon Magistrate Court yesterday.
During the proceedings, the defense presented a positive report from a probation officer, which indicated that Liu had a clean record and had learned a valuable lesson from this incident.
The defense argued that Liu posed a low risk of reoffending and suggested he would benefit more from treatment rather than punishment. In handing down the probation order, Wan acknowledged that the case was of a serious nature and that the court had the option to imprison Liu.
However, taking into account Liu's guilty plea and the positive steps he had taken to improve himself after the crime, Wan said Liu deserved a second chance, adding that the probation order was an opportunity for Liu to rehabilitate himself.
The court had previously heard on November 20 that at about 12pm, a female teacher, referred to as X, noticed Liu, dressed as a schoolgirl, walking towards the second floor of Buddhist Tai Hung College.
As students were not allowed on the second floor during lunchtime, X stopped and questioned Liu. Liu responded with a weak voice, claiming to be returning to "her" homeroom.
When X asked which class "she" belonged to, Liu immediately fled the school through the front door, heading towards So Uk Estate. X promptly informed the principal of the incident and reviewed the security camera footage before filing a police report.
The investigation revealed that Liu had driven his private car to the parking lot of So Uk Estate and disguised himself with a wig, glasses, a mask and a girl's school uniform before entering the school.
He remained on the campus for some two minutes before being spotted by X.
