Police said they received the report at 11.48am. The man told officers he had been targeted outside a building on Woosung Street.
According to his account, a woman in her 40s struck up a conversation with him on the street after breakfast and offered a massage for HK$300. He then followed her to a guesthouse room on the ninth floor of the building.
He said that after removing most of his clothing, he placed a gold chain weighing about two taels (around 75 grams) in the pocket of his trousers. The woman briefly massaged him before saying she would step out to get massage oil. When she failed to return after about two minutes, he realized the gold chain was missing.
Officers conducted a search in the area but found no trace of the suspect. The case has been classified as theft and is under investigation.
