Police crack down on illegal hire cars in East Kowloon, charge two drivers

Traffic Kowloon East officers conducted an operation against illegal hire car services in Ngau Tau Kok and Wong Tai Sin districts on Thursday afternoon.

During the operation, plainclothes officers successfully intercepted two private cars suspected of providing illegal paid transportation services. Two local male drivers, aged 33 and 42, were identified for "using motor vehicles for illegal carriage of passengers for hire or reward."

Both drivers will be issued summons, while the two involved private vehicles have been impounded for investigation and further examination.
