A devastating bus accident involving a Hong Kong tour group on Xinjiang’s G217 last week has resulted in a second fatality, with two other members still receiving medical treatment, prompting support from local authorities and the travel agency.

A Hong Kong tour group organized by TCI Travel faced tragedy last week when their bus was involved in a traffic accident on Xinjiang’s G217.
The incident, which occurred last Wednesday, initially claimed one life, but a second tour group member succumbed to injuries on September 8, bringing the total death toll to two.
Two other members of the group remain hospitalized in Xinjiang, receiving care with support from staff arranged by the travel agency.
The Travel Industry Authority expressed deep sorrow over the loss and injuries, committing to work closely with the travel agency to manage follow-up arrangements.
The authority is providing all possible support and assistance to the affected travelers and their families during this difficult time.
The Immigration Department is also actively involved, coordinating through the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and the Travel Industry Authority to monitor the situation and provide aid.
Staff from the Beijing office have traveled to Xinjiang to assist the families of those affected, offering guidance and practical support to help them navigate the aftermath of the tragedy.
