The Mark Six Dragon Boat Festival Snowball draw will be held tonight, prompting some online users to share their "secret tricks" for covering all 49 numbers for just HK$220 to increase their chances for the jackpot.
With a snowball of HK$38 million, a player with a single HK$10 winning unit could potentially bring home a jackpot of up to HK$50 million, but securing all numbers in the Mark Six lottery would require nearly 14 million entries, costing around HK$139 million.
Some online users shared the "cost-effective trick" on the social media platform Threads -- by selecting five core numbers, or "banker" and combining them with the remaining 44 leg numbers through partial unit investments of HK$5, thus covering all numbers with a cost just HK$220.
One user recounted a successful experience using the method during this year's Chinese New Year Snowball draw, luckily getting four core numbers drawn and winning over HK$90,000.
Another user employed the same strategy last year, resulting in his first win of over HK$20,000, which he described as an "easier way to win" in the Mark Six.
However, some commenters noted that this method requires players to hit at least two bankers with a special number to ensure a higher payout of HK$640, as well as to cover the costs.
While many agree that this strategy could increase winning chances, others highlighted the challenge of hitting the "banker" numbers, emphasizing that it was "all or nothing."
According to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the most frequently drawn number has been 30, followed by 10, which appeared 5 times and 4 times respectively in the past 13 editions of the Dragon Boat Festival Snowball draws.
Tickets are available for purchase until 9.15pm on Thursday (May 29), with the draw taking place at 9.30pm on the same day.
