When the breeze turns crisp and golden leaves start to fall along Victoria Park, Hong Kong’s most beloved autumn delicacy quietly makes its return — the hairy crab. To celebrate the season, PLAYT at The Park Lane Hong Kong, is bringing diners an elegant buffet themed around the indulgent sweetness of crab roe.
Chef Matt, known for his flair in balancing rich flavours with refined presentation, has curated an “Autumn Hairy Crab Delights” dinner experience that pays homage to the short-lived but glorious season.
Each guest will be served two steamed Shanghai hairy crabs wrapped in dried perilla leaves — about four taels each — a traditional touch that enhances their natural aroma.

The golden season of crab roe
For true connoisseurs, the highlight lies in the roe — that golden, buttery treasure that defines the taste of autumn.
Chef Matt’s creations weave this flavour into every dish: Steamed Silken Tofu with Hairy Crab Roe and Bird’s Nest, a delicate pairing of luxury and comfort; Huadiao Wine Marinated Soft-Boiled Egg with Hairy Crab Roe, combining Shaoxing fragrance with velvety texture; and Creamy Spaghetti tossed in Hairy Crab Roe, a fusion that brings East and West to the same table.

A feast beyond the crabs
While the crabs steal the spotlight, the buffet offers plenty for every palate. The seafood counter glistens with freshly shucked oysters, lobsters, mussels, and shrimp, while the carving station serves up U.S. Prime Roast Beef — juicy, tender, and a comforting contrast to the richness of crab roe.
Sushi and sashimi are prepared à la minute, joined by a vibrant line-up of dim sum, roasted meats, and Indian curries that fill the air with spices and colour. It’s a spread that reflects Hong Kong’s signature diversity — where culinary traditions meet global indulgence under one roof.
