The rapid rise in gold prices has benefited investors holding physical gold, with women, especially those from India emerging as the biggest winners in the current rally, said Swiss private bank Julius Baer.
Accumulating gold has been a tradition passed down among Indian women for centuries, and they are estimated to hold about 16 percent of the world’s gold reserves, the bank said in a report.
Citing data from the UK's Royal Mint, the report said the share of female investors tripled to 26 percent from 2018 to 2024, while women in China have also continued to buy gold bars and coins, accounting for about one-third of such purchases.
