More than 80 percent of Hong Kong’s population has been the target of attempted fraud, according to a bank survey.
Twenty six percent have fallen prey to scams and suffered an average financial loss of HK$3,800 the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, found in a survey done in August and September of 800 respondents aged 18-55 years.
Romance and digital payments scams caused the heftiest monetary loss – an average HK$4,100. Digital payments scams swindled an average HK$2,500.
