HK to showcase role in attracting impact capital – Chan

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council will release a report on Wednesday, showcasing case studies that demonstrate the city’s important role in attracting impact capital.

Speaking at the AVPN Global Conference 2025 on Tuesday, Chan noted that over the past few years, tax-exempt charitable donations from individuals and companies in Hong Kong have totaled approximately US$40 billion (HK$312 billion). 

He emphasized that the government is implementing active policies, such as tax incentives, to attract more family offices to establish a presence in the city.

Chan also highlighted that last year, Hong Kong issued over US$80 billion in sustainable bonds, with green bonds accounting for 45 percent of the total. Additionally, the Securities and Futures Commission has approved more than 200 environmental, social and governance funds, representing total assets under management of over US$140 billion.
