Faye Wong made a rare return to the CMG Spring Festival Gala, closing with the niche song “The Moment We Experienced,” but her choice of lesser-known track and long-eyebrow makeup sparked divided online opinions despite strong support from fans.

The Year of the Horse galas featured major stars: Jackson Yee, Jordan Chan and Jerry Yan performed together; Dilraba Dilmurat danced as a mermaid; Yu Shi rode a brown horse in a dramatic Liaoning TV act and Guan Xiaotong appeared as a mythical blue bird goddess in Henan TV’s national-style drama, both going viral.

For Faye's sixth Gala appearance, she chose the retro indie piece by ZaZaZsu, earning praise for supporting new artists and avoiding old hits at her age, but criticism for sounding unfamiliar and hard to appreciate.

Her transparent teardrop earrings were interpreted as symbolizing “a drop in the cosmic ocean.”
