Visitors to Beijing's Palace Museum were in for a surprise early Tuesday morning when they discovered admission tickets being offered at just 0.02 yuan due to a system glitch.
The unusual pricing affected all full-price entrance passes, as well as tickets for the Gallery of Clocks and Treasure Gallery, which were available for the nominal two-cent fee. Additionally, tickets for special exhibitions were shown as completely free.
Responding to the pricing anomaly, the administration of the museum issued a statement in the morning. They explained that during a system upgrade to their ticketing mini-program in the early hours of July 22, technical errors led to incorrect displays of ticket prices and availability for dates between July 22 and 28.
Authorities have confirmed that the digital ticketing platform has been restored to normal operation. Museum representatives have stated their intention to contact all visitors who purchased tickets during the glitch period to reissue corrected orders, ensuring that their visitation rights are honored.
The Palace Museum expressed its sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to visitors due to this incident.
