From now on, the public—most notably the young—can browse the Palace Museum in Beijing without travelling there after it launched English and traditional Chinese versions of its Youth Website last week.
Guests attending the launch ceremony and participants of the “Culture+Technology” Training Camp
Using either language, website visitors can join guided tours, browse collections and learn about imperial history, all brought to life through hand-drawn illustrations, games and videos. The site serves as an edutainment platform and educational resource designed for teenagers to discover more about the wisdom of Chinese culture.
The initiative falls under a five-year collaboration between IoP and the Palace Museum and aims to foster cultural exchange and develop arts-tech talent in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The newly launched Palace Museum-Hong Kong “Culture+Technology” Training Camp 2025 also falls under the collaboration. Through that programme, 20 people from universities across Hong Kong and the Imperial Palace will visit the Palace Museum followed by field studies in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing this summer for a Culture+Technology-themed academic exchange programme. It will feature lectures, institutional field studies, group discussions and workshops to promote traditional Chinese culture while also honing the skills of cultural practitioners from Hong Kong and the Mainland. Participants can also learn how digital technology can be applied to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage to drive innovation in the cultural tourism industry.
