China said the United States has made "false accusations" against it in a report on China's compliance to the World Trade Organisation, the Chinese commerce ministry said on Monday.
"The U.S. falsely claims that China has created 'overcapacity', which fully reflects U.S. side's unilateralism and hegemonic behavior," the ministry said in a statement on its website.
The statement noted that Washington has ignored the "great achievements" made by China in fulfilling its WTO commitments, and denies the contributions made by the nation to the multilateral trading system and world economy.
The statement came as the world's trade ministers gathered in the United Arab Emirates on Monday for a high-level WTO meeting with no clear prospects for breakthroughs, amid geopolitical tensions and disagreements.
The World Trade Organization's 13th ministerial conference, scheduled to run until Thursday in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, is the first in two years.
The WTO is hoping for progress, particularly on fishing, agriculture and electronic commerce.
