The 10-day Brazilian festival “Extravaganza! When Brazil Meets Hong Kong” will debut at the AIA Vitality Park in Central in June, filling the city with live samba, football, and music performances.

The festival will make its first appearance in Asia, featuring an array of street performances, parades, workshops, and game stations at Central Market, Lan Kwai Fong, Lee Tung Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui, and the Wan Chai waterfront from June 20 to 29.
The grand finale will unfold at the ferris wheel in Central as well as the AIA Vitality Park from June 27 to 29. The event will be accessible to the public for free from 1pm to 11pm.
Performances at the grand finale include samba dances, freestyle football by Ricardinho, DJ performances and many other traditional performances.
Brazilian food and beverages will also be offered at the venue, along with photography services.
Visitors who wish to indulge in Brazilian cuisines and photo services can purchase tickets in advance.
Organizer Stefan Matzinger expressed his love for both Brazilian and Hong Kong cultures, and hopes to immerse the two cultures at the Brazilian festival. He revealed that over 50 Brazilian performers will be present at the festival and hopes that the festival can foster a celebration of culture through sharing local food, dances, and music.
The Brazilian Consulate General in Hong Kong, Hervelter de Mattos, expressed his excitement for the event, and believes Hongkongers will be intrigued by the passionate Brazilian culture. He highlighted a unique performance at the festival, a high-energy Afro-Brazilian dance called Capoeira.
He anticipates that these performances will deepen and enrich cultural bonds between Hong Kong and Brazil.
The Chairman of the Harbourfront Commission Ivan Ho Man-yiu commended the event for driving business and cultural celebrations in the city and hopes for more development for the commission in the future.
