The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge commenced operation at 3 pm on Sunday, with many people waiting from the morning for the toll connecting station to be opened; and it is expected that the single journey between Shenzhen and Zhongshan would be significantly shortened from the current two hours to half an hour.

According to reports, a car headed out from Kwun Tong APM shopping mall at 2 pm this afternoon arrived at Shenzhen Bay Port at about 2.50 pm.
After a half an hour's break, the car started driving again and was initially expected to arrive in Zhongshan in just over an hour.
However, after driving to the Guangshen Coastal Expressway, traffic was congested, and the ride was unable to reach the underwater tunnel at the starting point of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge within about an hour's time.
The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, the 24-kilometer-long bridge that took seven years to build and connects Shenzhen and Zhongshan, was officially opened at 10.50 am and put into trial operation at 3 pm.
According to CCTV reports, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter expressing warm congratulations and sincere greetings to all involved in the planning and construction.
