Delivery man arrested for mocking rugby national anthem blunder

A local delivery man was arrested on Monday by the national security force and on trial today in West Kowloon Magistrate’s Court over accusations of "seditious intention" as he forwarded and sneered in a post of the national anthem being misplayed during a rugby match held this month.  

According to the court, the 42-year-old delivery man was determined to have conducted 113 counts of seditious acts from January 2021 to November 2022 by publishing posts on his social platforms.  

The posts, learned by the court, included denigrating the mandatory premises recording app "LeaveHomeSafe" as "LeaveHomeSick" and forwarding posts about the national anthem incident of the rugby match in South Korea with commenting, "thank you, guys."   

The man was accused of four counts, including conducting acts "with seditious intention" and "intent to insult the national anthem".  

Chief Magistrate Victor So Wai-tak, a designated National Security Law Judge, ruled the man no bail and to remain in custody pending trial on December 16.
