A man who spat on multiple doors and doorbells at Kwai Chung Estate in January this year has been sentenced to 30 days in jail at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on Tuesday.
Ng Lun-chung, 35, pleaded guilty to two counts of spitting in a public place, whereas his loitering charge was dropped by the prosecution.
Ng’s actions were previously caught on camera and shared online.

Passing sentence, Principal Magistrate Ivy Chui Yee-mei slammed Ng’s actions as selfish, noting that his actions increased the risk of virus transmission, especially when Hong Kong was dealing with its worst wave of the Covid outbreak at the time.
More than 200 Covid-19 infections had been reported at the 16-block Kwai Chung Estate when the incident happened, with two buildings placed under five-day lockdowns for testing.
