Police were investigating a reported bomb threat at Vitasoy’s Tuen Mun headquarters on Monday afternoon.
It was understood that a bomb threat was sent to Vitasoy’s Facebook page earlier, claiming “a bomb will be detonated at Vitasoy‘s headquarters”.
The force was made aware of the online threat this morning after the staff of Vitasoy filed a report. Officers responded to Vitasoy’s headquarters on Ho Tin Street in Tuen Mun but nothing was found.
The case is currently under investigation by the police’s Tuen Mun district investigation team and no arrests were made.
Vitasoy has become the latest target of calls for a boycott, after an employee of the Hong Kong beverage maker circulated a memo online offering condolences to the family of a worker who had stabbed a police officer.
Despite clarification that the memo was circulated by an "extremely inappropriate" staff member without authorization and saying it reserved the right to take legal action, Mainland supermarkets and retailers are still removing all Vitasoy products from their shelves.
Another internal memo circulated online as well, saying that the human resource director of Hong Kong region has left Vitasoy with immediate effect.
The chief human resource director of the company will cover the duties of the vacant position until a candidate is appointed, according to that memo circulated online.
