Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said the case is a 19-year-old student who returned from the United Kingdom on April 1.
She stayed in a hotel for mandatory quarantine and her deep throat saliva sample had tested negative on April 2. She had a itchy throat on April 13 and had a fever on April 15 after returning home. She was sent to the Caritas Medical Centre and tested positive for the virus.
Hong Kong has reported single digit of new daily cases for the fifth consecutive day.
Chaung said she hopes it reflects that the outbreak is under control, but urged people to maintain vigilance and social distancing as generally speaking, the situation needs to be observed for two incubation periods, and the pandemic is still ongoing.
She also said a lot of people had gone out during the Easter holidays and it is not known yet whether there will be an increase in new daily cases.
