Education sector lawmaker, Ip Kin-yuen, said today there are far more Hong Kong students stranded in Wuhan than that reported by the government.

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Patrick Nip Tak-kuen, told lawmakers at the Legislative Council on Wednesday that only three Hong Kong students are in the Hubei provincial capital.

Ip said at least 45 students are stranded in Hubei, including seven in Wuhan. Among them, 22 are secondary school students, with three Diploma of Secondary Education exam candidates, 22 are primary school students. One is a kindergarten student.

Ip hopes the government will consider a plan to evacuate students as soon as possible, especially those who will need to sit the DSE exams.
