Resale tickets for Messi's HK match plummet in price as scalpers overestimate demand

The resale price of US football club Inter Miami's exhibition match tickets featuring superstar Lionel Messi and his teammates in Hong Kong has plummeted due to low demand.

Messi is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong on Friday and will face the Hong Kong team at the Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday (Feb 4).

Scalpers are reselling the tickets for the exhibition match at a price as low as 46 percent off on various online platforms.

All match tickets - priced from HK$880 to HK$4,880 - were sold out in about an hour last month. Some even resell the tickets at exorbitant prices, reaching as high as HK$110,000. 

As the match approaches, a number of scalpers are eager to sell the tickets at a price lower than the original one.

An internet user was selling a ticket initially priced at HK$2,980 for only HK$1,600, while other sellers offered discounts of up to 30 percent, with prices dropping as low as HK$650.
