According to reports, the box of condoms was found at the seat of a Canada-made Challenger 605, which took off around 7 pm on July 20 and returned to the base around 10 pm.
The pilot, Ma, was training the co-pilot, Wong, at the time. As the training ended, a technician got onboard to carry out a regular inspection and found the box of condoms in the seat on the left.
A photo provided by the informant shows that the condom box is unsealed, but it remains unknown if there are any condoms in it.
Reports said the informant then filed a report to management but was requested not to leak the incident. Yet, the photo went viral internally.
In reply, the Service said controller West Wu Wai-hung inquired with the two pilots in person after learning of the incident and found no proof that there was any inappropriate behavior that would endanger flight safety.
The incident stemmed from a pilot’s “gross negligence” when handling personal belongings. The Service also gave that pilot a verbal warning and an advisory letter.
The Service also said they solemnly requested that pilots pay attention to personal behaviors and the code of conduct to avoid hurting the Service’s reputation.
