The city’s anti-corruption watchdog has appointed former Commissioner Simon Peh Yun-lu as Special Adviser for a term of one year while continuing to serve as President of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities during the period.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption said in the announcement that the arrangement will facilitate a smooth transition of the IAACA presidency in compliance with the requirements of its constitution and the coordination of a seamless handover of the work of the association to ICAC Commissioner Danny Woo Ying-ming.
It also said the arrangement has the support of the Central People's Government and the SAR government.
While serving as ICAC Commissioner in January this year, Peh, with approval from the Central People's Government and the SAR government, was elected President of the IAACA.
According to the IAACA constitution, its presidency is to be taken up by the chief or a designated official of the relevant organization.
