Brazilian renowned percussionist and composer Ney Rosauro is set to conduct the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in an exhilarating concert featuring his works, showcasing local solo percussionists.
Dubbed "one of the most important and prolific percussion composers of the past half-century" by the Percussive Arts Society, Rosauro will be conducting and playing his masterpieces with percussion soloists Fiona Foo, Elise Liu and HK Philharmonic Orchestra's principal timpanist James Boznos on June 25 at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.
Rosauro would also perform "Double Concerto for Marimba and Timpani", "Concerto No.1 for Marimba and Orchestra" and "Brazilian Suite for Vibraphone, Strings and Percussion (Dança & Côco)" as a soloist.
Apart from the "Brazilian Fantasy" concert, two mallet percussion masterclasses by Rosauro will open for different age groups on June 22.
Inspired by Brazilian folklore, Rosauro has composed more than 150 music pieces.
In 2023, he was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame and received the Legacy Award from Yamaha in 2021 for his endless commitment to music education.
