JAL hit by major data breach affecting 92,000 customers

Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed that a contractor responsible for its reservation system was subjected to unauthorized access, potentially exposing the personal information of about 92,000 customers.

The data at risk includes reservation numbers and names.

JAL further disclosed that for roughly 2,000 individuals, sensitive details such as passport numbers and nationality may also have been compromised.

The breach impacts those who booked JAL Group flights between August 10, 2023, and September 23, 2024. The airline said it will reach out individually to each affected passenger to provide guidance and support.
