Neymar named sole heir to $8.78bn fortune from anonymous billionaire's will

Reports indicate that Brazilian football star Neymar has been appointed the sole heir to a fortune worth 6.1 billion Brazilian Reais (around HK$8.78 billion), belonging to a billionaire whose identity has not been publicly disclosed and the duo have never met before.

The will was officially executed in Porto Alegre on June 12, in the presence of two witnesses. The deceased businessman purportedly selected Neymar as the heir due to his childless and single status, expressing a personal connection with the athlete.

According to media reports, it has been suggested that the individual admired Neymar's close relationship with his father, which resonated with his memories of his own late parent.

The inheritance now requires approval from Brazilian courts before Neymar can formally receive the assets.

The 33-year-old forward, who has recently rejoined Brazilian football club Santos following his departure from Saudi side Al-Hilal, has not issued a public statement regarding the reports.
