Padel, a racket sport combining elements of tennis and squash, is fast catching on in Hong Kong. Played in doubles on a specially enclosed court approximately two-third the size of a tennis court, the game is easy to learn and less physically demanding than other racket sports.
To encourage more people to try out this new trend, Taikoo Place has unveiled Project After 6: Padel Tour 2024, a cross-industry collaboration with sportswear brand Adidas and padel tennis club Padel+.
From now until July 19, the fountain area at One Island East has been converted into a full-scale professional padel court.
Booking is free via the Taikoo Place app but a tefundable court deposit of HK$100 per one-hour session is required.
During weekdays in May, the team from Padel+ will be around to offer tailored coaching.
Adidas is also debuting its professional line of padel rackets and balls, which can be borrowed on site next to the court for the hour of booking appointment.
Participants can redeem an exclusive Padel Tour 2024 laptop sleeve by sharing their padel moments on social media, using the hashtag #PadelWithTaikooPlace or through the Taikoo Place App.
