A Hong Kong MTR staff member dubbed the “MTR rapper” is back in the spotlight, winning praise after turning routine station announcements into a lively rap performance at Kai Tak station.
The employee first went viral last year at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort station, where he mixed English, Cantonese and Mandarin into rhythmic crowd-control messages. He was later spotted bringing the same energy to Prince Edward station.
In a recent social media post titled “MTR rapper is back”, a user said they ran into him again after an event in Kai Tak. A video circulating online shows the staff member holding a sign on increased Tuen Ma line services while delivering passenger information in a fast-paced, chant-like flow.
Lines such as “Heading home? Take the MTR – convenient and fast” and directions to station facilities were delivered with a playful rhythm, blending public service with performance.
Netizens were quick to applaud his creativity and dedication, with many saying his upbeat delivery brightened their commute. Some even joked that he “deserves a pay rise”, while others praised the MTR for letting his personality shine through.
