A tutoring centre in Tuen Mun has become embroiled in a dispute after a student alleged he was hit on the head with a plastic axe by a tutor, prompting the centre's owner to release CCTV footage of the incident.
The student posted on social media on Saturday saying he was at a tutoring centre in Tuen Mun's Kai Fung Shopping Centre when the tutor became angry after he talked to a classmate before receiving his test paper. He alleged the tutor hit him on the head with a plastic axe, saying "it really hurt a lot," and claimed the tutor had previously used wooden rulers and clothes hangers to hit students.
The centre's owner responded in the comments, releasing CCTV footage showing two boys chatting in class before the tutor walked to a corner, took out a toy axe and tapped one student on the head. The owner said he had immediately contacted the parent and student to resolve the matter, acknowledged the tutor had acted inappropriately, and said the tutor had been disciplined. The centre would strengthen supervision in future.
