Hong Kong should capitalize on the business opportunities presented by mainland tourists during the upcoming eight-day Lunar New Year golden week, according to Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law Shuk-pui.
"We expect a significant increase in tourists visiting Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year golden week," Law said.
A series of celebratory events are scheduled for the Lunar New Year, including the Lunar New Year flower markets, which will run from January 23 to 29 at 15 locations across the city including Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and Fa Hui Park in Sham Shui Po.
The Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade will light up Tsim Sha Tsui on January 29, beginning at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza and conclude at the Sheraton Hotel, featuring 55 performing troupes from around the world. Notable acts including K-pop group Kep1er and Thai boy band LYKN will join the festivities, alongside LINE Friends characters making a futuristic appearance on a special Y3K-themed float.On January 30, the second day of the Lunar New Year, Victoria Harbour will host a spectacular fireworks display lasting about 25 minutes, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake.
And the Well-Wishing Festival at Tin Hau Temple in Fong Ma Po Village, Lam Tsuen, will take place from January 19 to February 12.
