That second question bounced around at Cathay Pacific, with executives thinking of how to keep their loyalty and frequent flyer program moving in challenging times. It led to the carrier and OpenRice launching a program to allow people to gain and use their Asia Miles when dining out and paying for meals.
For every HK$4 spent with cash at a Cathay partner restaurant you earn a mile. That's for starters. Using a Standard Chartered Cathay Mastercard can earn up to three miles for every HK$4 spent on Fridays to Sundays. You earn 25 miles for every OpenRice takeaway order of HK$400 or above.
And if you're using Asia Miles to pay for a meals then 1,500 miles is worth HK$50.
To earn or spend miles you need to download the Cathay mobile app and link it to a Mastercard or Visa credit card. You also must link an Asia Miles account to an OpenRice one.
