Seven prison officers have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 31-year-old woman who got drunk at a party in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Sources said three of the Correctional Services Department officers allegedly took turns raping the woman in a unit at Mirador Mansion on Saturday, while the other four watched and masturbated.
One of the suspects is a CSD officer while another a first assistant officer and the rest second assistant officers.
All of the suspects, aged 23 to 38, have been suspended from duties.
It is understood the woman was invited to a party by a 31-year-old man, who said he was a CSD employee, and a 34-year-old woman, who she both met at Lan Kwai Fong last year.
They went to Mirador Mansion, where they drank alcohol and played card games with the seven suspects.
The pair was said to have left shortly after midnight, leaving behind the woman, who continued to party with the group. She later blacked out after consuming more alcohol.
She woke up alone and naked at around 8am on Sunday morning, suspecting she had been sexually assaulted, and then reported it to police. The case has been referred to Yau Tsim district crime unit for investigation.
A preliminary investigation report accused three second assistant officers, Wong, 23, Mak, 31, and Chung, 27, of gang-raping the woman when she was unconscious, while officer Lam, 28, first assistant officer Tam, 38, and second assistant officers Yuen, 28, and Hui, 30, are accused of watching the acts and masturbating.
It is understood that the 500-square-foot unit was a party room with two bedrooms available for short-term lease. Police said they will also investigate whether the woman was drugged.
The suspects remained in custody.
It is understood that most of them served at Stanley Prison, while the rest were stationed at Shek Pik Prison and Lai Chi Kok Reception Center.
The department said it attaches great importance to the conduct and ethics of correctional officers and has strict disciplinary requirements.
"If any staff is in breach of the law or discipline, the department will handle it in accordance with the law and will not tolerate any wrongdoing," a spokesman said.
Meanwhile, a Sing Tao Daily reporter yesterday found that 30 percent of the 16-story Mirador Mansion comprise hotel rooms, and a number of units have been converted into entertainment rooms.
A party room owner said some of the units are fitted with toilets, beds, sofas and other entertaining equipment such as televisions. But staff are not in the unit when it is leased out and they can only contact the customer by phone when a problem arises.
