Released by Warner Bros., the trailer marks the return of the franchise following the success of Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two. The third installment, once titled Dune: Messiah, is now officially named Dune: Part Three, and will adapt the second novel in Frank Herbert’s celebrated science fiction series.
The newly released footage opens on a quieter, more intimate note, showing Paul Atreides and Chani in conversation about the name of their future child. The moment hints at a more reflective chapter ahead, even as the story expands into the political and emotional consequences of power.
Set 17 years after the events of the previous film, the story follows Paul Atreides as he rules as Emperor after a Holy War, shifting the narrative from rebellion to the weight of leadership and legacy.
The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who returns after helming the first two installments. He also co-wrote the screenplay, continuing his long-term vision of bringing Herbert’s universe to the big screen.
Production began in July 2025 and wrapped in November the same year, with the director opting to shoot on film rather than digital, maintaining the cinematic texture established in earlier chapters.
Behind the scenes, the creative team sees both continuity and change. Hans Zimmer returns to compose the score, while cinematography duties are taken over by Linus Sandgren, known for his work on La La Land and No Time to Die. He replaces Greig Fraser, who was involved in the previous films but could not return due to scheduling commitments.
The ensemble cast brings back familiar faces while expanding the universe further. Returning and new cast members include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa and Rebecca Ferguson.
The release also comes with a set of character posters, offering audiences a first look at the expanded cast ahead of the film’s debut.
