South Korean stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin made history as the first married couple to win best actor and actress awards at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards on Wednesday night.
Hyun Bin took best actor for his role in "Harbin" while his wife Son Ye-jin won best actress for "No Other Choice" during the ceremony at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.
The couple also received the popularity award earlier in the evening, with Son Ye-jin noting it would be "an unforgettable day" for them both.
"No Other Choice" emerged as the biggest winner of the night, claiming eight awards including best film and best director for Park Chan-wook. The film's cast member Lee Sung-min won best supporting actor, though supporting actress went to Park Ji-hyun for "Hidden Face" in an upset over "No Other Choice" favorite Yum Hye-ran.
In his acceptance speech, Hyun Bin expressed gratitude to those who defended South Korea and thanked his director for supporting him through the challenging role. He also acknowledged his wife: "Son Ye-jin, your existence gives me great strength. I want to tell you that I love our son very much and I'm very grateful to you."
Son Ye-jin, who previously won the award at age 27, confessed she hadn't prepared a speech this time. She concluded by declaring love for "my most beloved man, Kim Tae-pyung" - using Hyun Bin's real name - prompting cheers from the audience.
The evening's newcomer awards went to Ahn Bo-hyun for "Pretty Crazy" and Kim Do-yeon for "Idiot Girls and School Ghost: School Anniversary," both emotional in their acceptance speeches.
