A concrete slab fell from an open-top lorry on the Tolo Highway on Tuesday afternoon, narrowly missing a following private car whose female driver said she would have been "gone in two seconds," online footage shows.
The incident occurred around 4.47pm when the lorry, loaded with various items without proper covering, was traveling towards Sheung Shui in the second left lane. As it passed near Lam Tsuen, a large concrete slab flew off the back and hit the road, kicking up clouds of dust.
The slab slid towards the left lane where the private car was traveling. The driver quickly swerved onto the hard shoulder to avoid a collision.
Police received multiple reports around 4.51pm that the lorry had dropped a mattress and a concrete slab on the Tolo Highway towards Sheung Shui near Lam Tsuen. A 44-year-old woman, surnamed Man, reported that her car was nearly hit by the falling slab. No injuries were reported. Police are tracing the lorry driver.
